Lupin Cottage

Remus unlocked the door and stepped inside hoping his daughter would follow. It was dark and musky inside from all the dust. It was unkept and looked a little cluttered from what it had been like when she was a little girl, when it had been spotless, but Remus had been living alone for years ".. come in"

I walked in with my head down. I still felt horrible with everything had happened. "I'm sorry dad. You were right. I'm an idiot."

He wasn't in the mood to talk about it. He took his cloak off and popped it on the sofa before walking into the kitchen to get them something to drink and eat "... what do you want to drink or eat, just come in here and have a look, see what you want."

"I'll just have whatever you are having." I said as I sat down

Remus got himself a beer and took out a jug of Butterbeer for her. He then rumaged through the pantry and took out steaks and a tin of mince pies "how do you like your steak? well done? rare ?" he asked taking a pan out from a bottom cupboard. He rubbed his back once putting the pan on the preheated stove, feeling his muscles aching.

"I like it rare. Thank you."

Remus placed the drink in front of her while he sipped his bottle of beer, lightly browning the meat, just warming it up a little before serving them. He also put a plate of mince pies on the table for desert "I hope you don't mind the mess too much.." he said looking around the kitchen and through to the living room "hope you aren't upset at me either or embarrassed.."

For the first time since we got there I looked at him. "Never. I could never be upset or embarrassed with you. And I don't mind the mess. I can never keep my side of the dorm clean at school." I smile a little.

"I used to keep things very tidy here once, but with me only being here, and not all the time I see little point." He picked up his meat and took a chunk out of it, never having had the best table manners.

"My friends get on my case when I don't clean my area. They tease me and say I should hire a maid." I was starting to feel better. It had been awhile since I talked to my dad.

".. well I heard someone say once that creative people, tend to me a little messier than others, I think I have just been rather lazy, I wish I could do more for you....I felt I haven;t done enough.."

"You have done enough. I have everything I want." I smile.

!I haven't seen you much at all since you were a baby." he looked down at his hands before taking his beer and sipping it

"You've seen me and you are always there for me when I need you. That's good enough for me."

"... well, if you are certain but I feel like I could have done me, it was a strange relationship with your mother.. just one of them things when people are younger, I was terrified my worst fear was to pass on what I had to someone.... and I cut myself away from your mother soon after that night.." he admitted not looking at her.
